Good practice for metadata requirements during upload

When configuring Fotoware Veloz for upload, it's important to require enough information to make the assets easy to find and reuse later.

Consider the types of assets users will upload and the amount of metadata they can realistically provide. Requiring too many fields can make uploads time-consuming and discourage adoption. Requiring too little information, however, can make assets difficult to find later and reduce the value of the system.
Aim for a balance that gives users a simple upload experience while ensuring assets can be found, filtered, and reused over time.

Metadata Views control required fields when uploading

The metadata view assigned to an archive is used both when uploading assets and when editing existing metadata. For archives that allow uploads, pay particular attention to which fields are marked as required.
Users cannot start an upload until all required fields have been completed. Keeping the number of required fields to a minimum can help make the upload process as quick and straightforward as possible.

Tip: Metadata views control upload requirements across all supported upload clients, including web browsers, mobile apps, and FotoWeb Desktop plugins and extensions with upload capabilities.

Use taxonomies

Taxonomies can help simplify metadata entry by providing predefined values for users to choose from during upload.
The same taxonomies are also available when browsing collections, making it easier for users to recognize available content, filter results, and find assets with just a few clicks.

Cooperation with users is key

Configure metadata views in collaboration with the people who will use them. The goal is to find a balance that works well over time: users should be able to upload content with minimal effort while still providing enough information to find and reuse assets later.
