The requirements for running FotoWeb vary depending on user load and the number of assets in the system.
This topic outlines the server software requirements and provides example configurations to serve as a starting point for selecting hardware.

Disk requirements
In addition to the software itself, Fotoweb also stores configuration data, previews, thumbnails, CMS exports, and other operational data on the system drive, in the FotoWare\FotoWeb subfolder under the common application data folder (usually C:\ProgramData\FotoWare\FotoWeb).
Disk space consumption varies depending on how the system is used, such as the number of unique assets browsed per day, the number of CMS exports, and the volume of video files. We recommend starting with at least 40GB of free disk space, or 20% of the drive capacity, and not letting the free disk space fall below 10GB or 10%.
Disk space required for uploads
Uploading requires free disk space on the destination of at least three times the size of the file being uploaded. This applies to uploads of any size, and to the drive that holds the destination archive – not to the drive the file is uploaded from.

Plan for this requirement in addition to the general free space recommendation described under Disk requirements above. The three-times rule covers a single upload in progress; if several users upload large files at the same time, the requirement applies to each concurrent upload, so size the destination accordingly.
If the destination does not have sufficient free space, the upload may fail or remain incomplete. Check available space before uploading, particularly when working with large files such as video, layered image formats, or raw camera files.

Hardware guiding principles
A guiding principle for the above table is determining the number of concurrent users on the system and the number of assets stored.
For example, a system with one million assets but only five users will require the values specified for the Medium configuration tier above (the number of assets becomes the guide).
In a system with only 10,000 assets and 75 concurrent users, the number of users is the guiding factor, indicating that the medium-sized configuration is appropriate.
It is also important to remember that the software is 64-bit and can process extremely large images, which increases memory requirements.
A guiding principle in this regard is that processing a 1 GB image requires 5 GB of available memory, in addition to the requirements mentioned above.
