Main changes: Improved User Experience in Schemas, Channels & Terms.

The Moléson (French: Le Moléson) at 2002 metres lies at the northern end of the Swiss foothills between Lake Geneva and the Sarine valley. The mountain overlooks the Gruyère region in the canton of Fribourg. This gorgeous Gothic medieval town is known for its namesake cheese, excellent chocolate, and a 13th-century fairy tale castle that houses the HR Giger Museum and its famous "Alien" sketches. It may be more appealing to fans of Christmas to visit the stunning Christmas market, enjoying artisan wares amid choirs of carol singers and roasted chestnut stalls.

Schema management

Picturepark schemas represent your data model, including content types, copyright information, and product data, such as codes and other product attributes.

In the new list layout for all schema types, you will see all schemas in a tree-like hierarchy. This allows admins to scan the Picturepark data model in one go easily. Another main benefit is the schema-wide search. Admins can search for a schema and get results from all possible schema types.

In the schema list view, the Fields column shows how many fields are assigned to each schema, as well as whether the schema is a system schema (not editable).

The sidebar is divided into Filter and Info. In global filters, you can find information on whether a schema is a system schema, whether it is a view for all schemas, how its permission set is set, and where the schema is used. When you select a schema, this information changes to schema-specific info like child schemas (if applicable), usage (where it is used, with links to jump to the schema directly), fields (with links for tagboxes, relationship, and fieldsets), and permissions. The Index Field Count shows how many fields from this schema are available for searching and filtering.

What are all these schemas?

  • Use Lists for simple or smart tags with synonyms, translations, and more details, like links to Wikipedia pages. You can also use lists for products with all product details, events, event details, and much more.
  • Use Layers for metadata profiles and adaptive metadata you assign to Content Items, like copyright information, descriptive metadata, distribution information, or workflow steps.
  • Use Fieldsets and Relations to create a set of fields that users must fill out when relating content or adding Fieldsets, like product view, when linking product content.
  • Use Virtual Items for file-less content, like press releases, press kits, or landing pages.
  • Use Files to modify searchable information from extracted file metadata, such as XMP, IPTC, or similar.

Using the schemas, you can turn Picturepark into your product content hub, event content hub, campaign content hub, training content hub, or all of them at once. As your business evolves, so must the data model.

With Picturepark, you can model your data in countless ways. We can help you choose the correct best practice setup and customize it to match your unique business case.

Channel & Terms of Service

In addition to better grouping of settings, the interface for configuring channels and Terms of Service is more intuitive.

The channel configuration has a default list view for all channels, making it easier for admins to see the channel sort order (as it will display in the Content Browser) by arranging the list and the sort order number displayed as an attribute of the list layout. Additionally, the view for all settings is directly visible.

The Detail View of a Channel has been shortened to only the most important areas. This will give you a better overview of the channel configuration. The reworked channel detail view allows for faster editing, including more support for defining channel filters (the segmentation of content per channel).

The new list layout for Terms of Service gives a better overview of active Terms of Service, and the settings are organized for faster editing in the detail view.

Shortcuts

To further improve editing channels and Terms of Service settings, you can use the shortcuts below:

  • Add (Insert): CTRL + I
  • Edit: CTRL + E
  • Save: CTRL + S
  • Paging: ALT + arrow left / arrow right

On Apple devices, use Apple Key instead of CTRL.

Further notable changes

User Interface

  • The two-column layout in the detail views got an upgrade, by making the columns resizable. The default is 40%/60%, but it can be reduced depending on the action you want to do. The resize dimensions are remembered in your browser only.

User Management

  • We added a new “Last activity date” for users. This date is updated with every action of the user and shows (as the name suggests) the last activity the user made in the system.

Fields & Filters

  • A new filter converts multiple keywords in various spellings to lowercase but does not tokenize words, e.g., jpg, JPG will be converted into one keyword: "jpg" for admins to use in filters and search. This filter only allows exact matches, from non-translated values, ignoring letter casing, and it does not tokenize (split) any words. The filter is activated for new customers by default for file type filters, and existing customer filters can be manually updated on request.
  • The Relationship field got another update with the large thumbnail view. The large thumbnail view is required for PDFs, whereas the medium preview was just too small to see any details.

Changes to API & SDKs

API changes have been introduced with the upcoming Picturepark Release “Moléson” (v11.5). However, we recommend you review all changes made if you are responsible for integrations:

https://picturepark.com/apichanges

Please verify if the changes will affect your integration and adapt it accordingly if needed. If you use our SDKs or samples like the Content Portal, we recommend updating to the latest version:

  • Picturepark.SDK.DotNet
  • Picturepark.SDK.TypeScript
  • Picturepark.SDK.Samples (including Content Portal)

Suppose you want to test your changes in advance. In that case, we can provide you with a functionally limited clone running on the latest 11.5 preview code base within our stage environment (free provisioning of5 such a stage system depends on your subscription plan or partner status).
