FotoStation Display Templates (Fotoware On-premises) FotoStation Display Templates are currently stored in the RTF document format. This will be changed to HTML Format in a future version of FotoStation.   transition from RTF to HTML format can usually be done using Microsoft Word or
other document editors.

FotoWeb Desktop Open/Edit (Fotoware On-premises and Veloz) FotoWeb Desktop Open and Edit has been deprecated and will be set to End of Life on January 1st, 2025. For recommendations for alternatives, see this Learn article.
  • December 21, 2023 (deprecated)

  • January 1, 2025 (EOL)
FotoWeb Login Tokens (Fotoware On-premises) The login token authentication is set to End of Life.
  • July 1, 2024 (EOL)
FotoWeb Legacy Preview Agent API (Fotoware On-premises) The Preview Agent API will be set to End of Life on July 1st, 2024 and will no longer be offered in our on-premises software released after that date. If you have integrations that display previews in real-time, we recommend looking into alternative solutions such as obtaining temporary preview links from the RESTful API.
  • July 1, 2024 (EOL)
FotoStation Operating System Support

macOS Big Sur (11) and earlier are no longer supported by Apple and will not be supported by FotoStation.

Windows 10 Version 21H1 and earlier are no longer supported by Microsoft and will not be supported by FotoStation.
Note: FotoWare follows the official OS Support timelines for macOS and Microsoft Windows clients. Please ensure you stay up to date on client OS versions according to official recommendations.

  • December 20, 2023 (EOL)
Legacy IPTC support using the Image Interchange Model (IIM) XMP has been the established industry standard for reading and writing embedded metadata for over two decades. We will continue our efforts to remain the industry leader in XMP capabilities adoption. As most applications and devices now exclusively use XMP as the format for reading and writing embedded metadata, we see that the additional support for reading IPTC block metadata is causing unnecessary compatibility issues. Moving forward, FotoWare will not be parsing IPTC metadata from assets if XMP metadata is present in the asset.
Support for parsing EXIF information will not be affected by this change.
FotoWare is still a member of the IPTC Committee and remains involved in the adoption of IPTC standards in our tools.
  • December, 2022 (deprecated)
External Tracking (Google Analytics, PIWIK) Built-in support for external tracking tools has been deprecated and will be removed in a future version. These tools include Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and PIWIK.
The new Activity Export feature will contain all the data that can currently be sent to these tools, and more. We will also include the ability to track the activity of users with guest access. This data can be imported to any third-party Analytics or BI tool used in the organization
  • December, 2022 (deprecated)

  • April 1, 2024 (EOL)
Azure Face Recognition using Color Factory Due to FotoWare’s new policy regarding Facial Recognition technology in our software, we will immediately remove any facial recognition options in Color Factory’s support for Azure Cognitive Services. This does not include Facial Recognition technology in connection with public individuals such as celebrities.
Other Cognitive Services features will still be available.
For more information about the policy, see our Statement on Facial Recognition Technology.
  • November, 2022 (EOL)
CSS Overrides in FotoWeb (Fotoware On-premises and Veloz) Branding using CSS overrides is deprecated. We will offer similar capabilities through native configurations in a future release.
  • December, 2023 (deprecated)
InDesign Server for Index Manager Preview Generation using InDesign Server executables in Index Manager has been deprecated and will be removed in the future. We will offer a viable alternative for generating preview files for unsupported file types before removing this feature.
  • December 2022 (deprecated)

  • January 1, 2025
FotoWare Custom Report Generator The FotoWare Custom Report Generator tool allows you to perform data grouping and aggregation based on activity log data, and to schedule regular generation of formatted reports. Most of the functionality offered in the report generator will not be offered moving forward.
FotoWare is building a new Activity Export tool that will allow you to export activity data. The solution will contain a comprehensive list of activity events and allow you to choose the metadata values to include in the logs, including changed metadata values on assets. This data can be exported, on schedule or on demand, as raw activity CSV files that can be imported into all common BI Tools such as Excel, Power BI, SAP Business Objects, Google Analytics, and more. Further aggregation of the data can then be performed using those tools.
We recommend switching to the new solution as soon as it becomes available.
  • December, 2022 (deprecated)

  • April 1, 2024 (EOL)
Facebook comments The Facebook Comments feature in FotoWeb is deprecated, and will be marked as EOL from August 1st 2022. FotoWare will be improving the capabilities of the built-in Commenting and Annotation features to support social collaboration in our products moving forward.

  • August 1, 2022 (EOL)

  • July 26, 2021 (deprecated)

Internet Explorer 11 With FotoWare 8.1 we have removed all dependency on Internet Explorer by replacing in-browser Silverlight component with pure HTML components. Although Microsoft’s official support for Internet Explorer 11 ends on June 15, 2022, many SaaS solutions, including Microsoft’s own Office 365, have already stopped supporting the browser.
  • July 26, 2021 (deprecated)

  • July 26, 2022 (EOL)

  • 25 June, 2020 (deprecated)

Windows Active Directory integration via LDAP For security reasons, we recommend using ADFS or any other SAML 2.0 compatible Identity Provider. Alternatively, a pure Azure AD integration.
FotoWare 8.1 will contain tools to assist with the migration of existing users and groups to a different Identity Provider.
We recommend using SAML with ADFS for user authentication instead.
For more information, see FotoWeb Authentication with Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS).
