Säntis, at 2501.9 meters, is the highest mountain in the Alpstein massif of northeastern Switzerland. Houses called “Säntisblick” (Säntis view) can be found even in the Black Forest in Germany, 200km away. The summit’s panorama is phenomenal, and if the weather allows, it is possible to see six countries: Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, France, and Italy.

In 1922, the weather station keeper and his wife were murdered. The so-called Säntismord (Säntis murderer) remains unsolved, and the crime scene was only discovered because of missing weather reports. Luckily, Picturepark automated notifications were not in place, which would have just continued sending.

Release Details

These are the final release notes.

Better Formatted Text

Create lists using bullet points, highlight text by making it bold or italic, and add clickable URLs. Perfect for taking press kits to the next level.

Bold or Italic?

Text fields in Picturepark have an additional option to render Markdown, a well-known syntax supported by various systems. Using Markdown in text fields allows for basic formatting, such as headlines, bold, or italics for descriptions, press kit content, or product details, to highlight specific areas or structure longer texts. The markdown syntax is only rendered in the detail view of the Content Item inside Picturepark or in the share, not in thumbnails and names (please work with liquid filters to replace markdown syntax).

Picturepark uses the following component for rendering: https://markdown-it.github.io, which offers an online demo. Please ensure that all plugins (checkboxes at the top) are disabled in this demo, as Picturepark does not currently support any plugins.

If you are unsure about the syntax, you can open the help or see the preview in the markdown editor.

Automated Notifications

Ensure your peers are always up-to-date with changes or newly uploaded content by using the power of automatic email notifications.

Automate Now

When preparing your business rule, automated notifications are ideal for areas such as checks for changed or updated product content that is now available for dealers, checking that new content has copyright information correctly applied, or informing content owners that the legal department has reviewed and approved their content for further distribution. That means working with triggers, conditions, and transformations in your business rules to find the new approved content items.

Let’s look at an example:

  • Trigger: Updated Content
  • Condition:
    • Permission Set “Content available for Dealers” assigned
    • Layer “Product Information” assigned
    • Field Value Changed for Field “Copyright Validation” to True

Then there is the new action “Product Notification Action” to show a notification whenever the business rule finds Content Items that fulfill your conditions. You can configure the notification content by providing the title and message for the notification. Additionally, you can create a collection from the found Content Items; so that your users will be notified about new content and where to find it, by providing the link to the collection.

Picturepark will send a summary email of unseen notifications to users, based on their email notification preferences (notify quarter-hourly, hourly, daily, or never) of their user profile. As an administrator, you can define the mail template used for the mail notification, provide any additional information or opt for specific styling.

In cases such as a legal department reviewing copyrights or consents, the product management team providing new material for sales, or HR uploading new policies, those users are automatically informed with a notification in Picturepark. This can be done whenever new content is available or approved for other users. In addition, those same users will receive a mail notification, which can additionally contain a collection link to jump to the new content directly.

Linked Content Download

You can download many linked files all at once with just one mouse click. Stop wasting time downloading items one at a time.

Download All

Related content items can now be downloaded or placed all together into the basket for further processing, such as editing or sharing. Additionally, each individual item can be downloaded directly or added to the basket. Previously, related items had to be added individually and could only be opened in the detail view.

The two new buttons next to the thumbnails of related items now allow download or adding to the basket with only one button click. This allows you to carry out actions such as downloading all the linked press materials of a virtual press kit package at once or sharing them via the basket with your press contacts. Each individual item now has two more buttons to download or add to the basket.

Various Other Changes & Improvements

This section lists additional improvements and notable changes in this release.

For Users

  • Login:
    • Federated users trying to login via email and password are now informed that they have to select the buttons for federated authentication, which can be found above the email and password fields.
  • Share
    • Support for share languages other than German or English was added e.g. Spanish, Portuguese.
    • The performance of large shares (a share with ~1000 content items) is greatly improved. In tests in Chrome, loading 1000 items in a share was almost halved (40%).
  • Filters
    • The search bar in filters is always displayed, even with all filter values shown.

For Editors

  • Transfer
    • Notifications on imports have been reworked, so that only relevant information is shown to the user e.g. upload complete (files available, you can close the browser) and import complete (you can add metadata). Other notifications about areas such as search index are only shown when there is an error.
  • Excel Roundtripping App
    • Single fieldset fields are now supported and can be imported or updated via Excel.
  • Share
    • The number of items shared is added to the share management page.

For Admins

  • Search
    • The new search analyzer “no diacritics” for text fields will strip diacritic characters, so when the text value is: Kovačić Mateo you can search for “Kovačić Mateo” or “Kovacic Mateo”. Previously, you had to search with the correct accent characters only.
  • System information
    • API host and Picturepark IDS URL have been added to the system information for easier configuration of API clients and/or identity providers.
  • Filters
    • Admins can now define the sorting of filter values in the filters in the Content and List Item Browser. Previously, the sorting of values was based on the most hits (count of Content Items). Admins can now sort alphabetically either ascending or descending, ideal for cases such as sorting product names alphabetically: making it easier for your users to find the desired product name filter.
  • Rendering
    • Material Exchange Format (MXF) files are now supported. MXF is for professional digital video and audio. One usage is to deliver advertisements to TV stations.
  • Fields
    • Checkbox fields can no longer be set as required, as Picturepark checkbox fields only have two states (true, false) the required flag is useless, as you cannot set a required checkbox to false.

API Changes

API changes are listed in the separate API changelog which you can find here.

Changes to System Requirements or Limitations

  • Picturepark's next major version of the Content Platform (version 11, roll-out in 2021) will not support the Microsoft Edge browser (version 18) which support will be ended by Microsoft in March 2021. See additional information on Edge support by Microsoft: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/faq/internet-explorer-microsoft-edge

Bug Fixes

  • Content Browser
    • Fields with the ID “language” can now be added and show up in the Content Browser.
    • The scrolling state is kept when opening the Content Item Detail or navigate forth and back.
    • Output format selection for downloads from basket or collection.
  • Search
    • A bug was fixed that returned content items with full-text when using the advanced search on field values, so now you don’t have to add a parameter to the URL as a workaround.
  • Shares
    • Longer names of files now correctly trimmed, so that Content Items stay visible.
  • Content Item Detail
    • The replacement functionality of Content Items has been fixed and now shows the person who updated.
  • Content Portal
    • The selection of content and adding or removing content from the basket is fixed for the mobile view.
    • In the Edge browser, the search closes with one x only.
  • Excel Roundtrip
    • Mapping to not indexed fields on a tagbox is disabled.
  • Business Rules
    • Changes to permission sets are correctly monitored and the business rules execute correctly.
