Connecting Fotostation and Fotoware Veloz

You can manage your assets, upload and download large files, and work with metadata efficiently by connecting Fotostation and Fotoware Veloz. Fotostation supports various workflows, including pre-ingestion work, metadata editing, and integration with the Fotoware Veloz taxonomy.

For information about connecting Color Factory and Fotoware Veloz, see Connecting Color Factory and Fotoware Veloz.

For information about the difference between pools and archives, see The difference between pools and archives and Understanding how metadata controls what you see in archives.

Prerequisites

  • Download and install the latest Fotostation installer from downloads.fotoware.com, or, if you already have Fotostation installed, check that you have the latest version.
  • Obtain a Fotostation Client license.
  • To browse archives in Fotoware Veloz, you (as a config admin) must have the Manage archives permission.
  • You also need to provide access to the necessary pools for yourself and other users who will be using Fotostation. See Preparing pools in Fotoware Veloz below.

Preparing pools in Fotoware Veloz

  1. In Fotoware Veloz, from the Tools menu (cogwheel icon), go to Site Configuration > Pools.
  2. Add yourself as a member of the relevant pools. For more information, see Configuring Fotoware storage pools.

Creating an archive in Fotostation

  1. Create an archive in Fotostation.
  2. From the Archive type dropdown list, select Fotoware Veloz.
  3. Select ... next to Archive URL/Path, and enter the host URL (for example, https://your-saas-instance.fotoware.cloud).

  1. Select a Fotoware Veloz archive or pool. If there are “pools” available that are not used in Veloz, you can select them here. They will appear as Unassigned pool in the list.

  1. The advantage of selecting archive instead of pool is that you will get the same auto search as in Fotoware Veloz.

  1. Select OK.
  2. You will be redirected to the browser to sign in. Select Accept to grant Fotostation the necessary access.

Note

Archive selection is helpful when configuring archives in Fotostation, but it is not possible to map all properties in Fotoware Veloz. User specific search is NOT included and must be added manually. Autosearch with dynamic operators must be edited and adapted to Fotostation operators (a warning will be shown).
