To use Activity Exports, you must first enable Activity Logging options in Site Configuration. Once Activity Exports is enabled, you can configure which events to log and, if relevant, what metadata to log for the selected events. You can also choose whether to log user information for those events.

To configure Activity Logging, you must be a member of a group with the Manage activity logging administrative permission. For more information, see Assigning administrative privileges to a group. 

1. From the Tools menu (cogwheel icon), go to Site Configuration > Activity Exports.
   
   
    
2. On the Configure tab, turn on the Enable event and metadata logging. For privacy reasons, this option is turned off by default. 
3. To log the user ID and username for logged events, turn on Enable user information logging.
    
   

   Note

   User information is logged only when both Enable events and metadata logging and Enable user information logging are turned on. 

    
4. On the Events tab, select the events to log. 
5. On the Metadata tab, select metadata to log.
6. Select Save. 

The next step is to create an activity export.
